my first visit

I went to the doctor today for my first pre-natal visit. I had an ultrasound...a vaginal one. I hate that. They use this large thing that frankly looks like a dildo, they put a condom on it and some KY and then...well...I'm sure you can guess what happens next. You see, I have to have it done this way so early on in the pregnancy because my uterus tips back, so they can never see anything with the regular ultra-sound. I remember when I was pregnant with Israel and Jeff came with me for my first ultra-sound and they got the stick ready. I said "you're going to use that?" The technition nurse said "yep." I looked over at Jeff and said "jealous?" It was quite funny.
So...I at least got to see our new little p-nut on the computer screen...doesn't really look much like a baby, I mean it has a head and a torso and what we will call arm and leg paddles. The largest part of it was the heart, which I could see beating at 136 bpm. Amazing. I am only 8 weeks pregnant (6.5 weeks gestational) which means that the baby is really only technically 6.5 weeks old, but to already have a heart and the 4 chambers starting to form and its muscles twitching...how can you not believe in a Divine plan...especially to know that my sweet baby boy was once a little p-nut like that and how those cells knew just where to go to form organs and the intracate workings of the human body. I am in Awe I tell you...in Awe.
After the ultra-sound, I went to see my doctor down the hall. She said that I am due on May 15, but that due to my severe sickness with my first pregnancy, we are going to have this baby by repeat c-section 2 weeks early. I am fine with that. She also said that I will have an ultra-sound again at 20 weeks and then one every visit until I deliver. I'm actually kind of excited about that...it just means we'll get to watch this baby grow inside of me every month.
It still hasn't hit me that I'm pregnant again. I don't feel sick like I did before and I'm not as tired (probably because I don't have time to be). This one is different. I hope that I don't get sick again...don't want to put Jeff through that anymore...it was very scary. Only time will tell though. My blood pressure is great 88/56. When I delivered Israel it was 170/124. No wonder they did an emergency c-section.
Now about Israel. He is going to be a handful...I can tell already. He's funny and a smartass, at 10 months, I think that's pretty amazing. I took him to Neighborhood group with me on Tuesday night. We were singing and he was yelling, then we started to pray. He yelled. I put my hand over his mouth and said "shhh" he then put his forehead up against mine and whisper yelled. I cracked up. He's doing these kind of things more and more...almost as if to say, "oh, I'll yell, I'll whisper, but I'll do it if I want." Don't even get me started on the fits he throws when I take a toy away from him. I have started to raise my voice and tell him that's enough...he's responding pretty well so far. Babies are so fragile at this age...I mean, they are so easily molded by the parents behavior...and I don't want to screw it up and end up with a brat. I'm all about corporal punishment.
okay, so I'd better get going. I'm so glad that its Friday and that I don't have to come back to work for 2 whole days...wish weekends were longer. I think we'd all benefit from having 3 day weekends. No one does a damn thing on Fridays anyway.

My milkshake is better than yours.

congratulations!!

and man, ultrasounds suck. i had to have one a couple years ago and they make you hold your pee for SO long, then press on your stomach until you feel like you're going to wet yourself.

glad you're not having morning sickness and that your blood pressure is normal. these are very excellent things.
